NORFOLK, Va. – #15 Old Dominion field hockey hosts Providence and Delaware this weekend at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex for its fall home opener.
Competition against Providence begins at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 while the Blue Hens come to Norfolk on Sunday, Sept. 20 for a 12 p.m. start. ODU will be supporting Morgan’s Message on Friday and Championship effort on Sunday. Live stats will also be available for both games.
The Monarchs are on a 10-game winning streak over the Friars, including an overall 13-1 record against them. Meanwhile, ODU is 15-5 against Delaware and most recently won, 2-1, last October.

Old Dominion returns to Norfolk after defeating No. 5 North Carolina last weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C., for the first time since 2013. Serena Langendoen secured the game-winning goal in overtime off of a penalty stroke, securing the 5-4 victory.
For their performances against the Tar Heels, both Langendoen and Sofia Marciano earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, respectively.
Langendoen leads the Monarchs in assists with four and goals with five, while Marciano has four goals and Painter accounts for three goals.
Suus Broers has 23 saves on the season.
ABOUT PROVIDENCE
Providence is on a five-game winning streak since falling to Boston College in its season opener. Friday will mark the team’s fourth-straight road challenge, after the Friars bested Sacred Heart, 4-1, on Friday and Hofstra, 2-1, on Sunday.
Lily Procaccianti leads Providence in goals with five with fellow teammate Carly van Benten following behind with four goals. Martu Torre Festa has a team-high four assists on the season as well.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ava Porter has 13 saves on the season.
ABOUT DELAWARE
Delaware is 2-3 and coming off a 2-1 victory over Kent State on Sunday. Before facing the Monarchs, the Blue Hens will take on No. 4 Wake Forest at the TU Field Hockey Complex in Towson, Md., on Friday.
Three players are tied for first place in goals with two each, including Katie Clarke, Alexa Michielsen and Livia Van’t Hek. Avary Miller leads the team with two assists as well.
Gabby Prentice has recorded eight saves while allowing eight goals on the season.

Jeff & Billye Chernitzer Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony
The 2026 Jeff and Billye Athletics and Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony is set for Friday, Sept. 25 at Chartway Arena.
ODU field hockey alumna and midfielder Sarah Breen will be honored along with four other inductees. Breen was a 2x All-Big East First Team and 1x All-CAA First Team selection. She earned three NFHCA Division I All-American honors. Breen was a second team selection in 2015, and secured a third team nod in 2014. Breen finished her Old Dominion career with 104 points from 44 goals and 16 assists.
