KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Old Dominion men’s soccer has moved up nine spots to now rank #13 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, as the association announced on Tuesday afternoon. ODU gained four spots to #11 in the ranking by TopDrawer Soccer.
The Silver and Blue under third year head coach Tennant McVea have gotten off to a 7-0 start in its non-conference schedule and are one of only three teams in the nation to not suffer a loss yet. ODU has outscored its opponents, 27-7 and has scored 5+ goals on two occasions.
Old Dominion’s +20-goal differential is ranked best in Division I. The Monarchs’ 27 goals rank second in the national leaderboard. ODU also ranks first in the country in scoring offense (4.17) and is first in the country in points per game (11.67).
The Silver and Blue rank second in the country in total points (77), third in shots on goal per game (9.67), and are tied for eighth in total assists (23).
Fourth year forward Lewis Rourke was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week last week. Rourke’s form to start the season has also put him near the top of the national leaderboards. He is tied for third in the country in total points (15), tied for fourth in goals (6), tied for 26th in shots on goal per game (9.67), and tied for 35th in total assists (3).
Fourth year forward Jason Purks has scored four goals in five contests to rank tied for 25th in the nation in total goals. Purks has taken two penalty kicks and converted both for a 100% success rate to rank tied for first in Division I.
Fourth year defender Ludovico Vicini has provided three assists and scored one goal, his three assists are tied for 35th in the nation.
Second year goalkeeper Alexander Aguilar has provided two assists and has logged 630 minutes in net to rank tied for second in the nation. Aguilar has recorded two clean sheets this season to rank 18th in Division I.
#13 Old Dominion faces now #4 South Carolina in the first game of Sun Belt Conference action on Friday, September 18 at 7 p.m. in Norfolk, Virginia. The Gamecocks, along with the Monarchs, are two of the final three teams in the nation to have won every game so far. The last team is Missouri State.
Jeff & Billye Chernitzer Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony
The 2026 Jeff and Billye Athletics and Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony is set for Friday, Sept. 25 at Chartway Arena.
Forward Tim Hopkinson will be honored along with four other inductees. Hopkinson was a semifinalist for the prestigious MAC-Hermann Trophy and won the fan poll. He earned Second Team All-American honors after finishing the 2013 season as the nation’s 11th leading scorer and ranked 15th in total points. He ranks fourth in ODU men’s soccer history with 33 career goals, third with 85 career points, and ranks seventh all-time with 19 career assists.
