NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion sailing opens the 2026 fall season on Saturday, September 12 with three competitions that span over the weekend, including the Riley Cup hosted by ODU. Events will last all day.

ODU hosts the Riley Cup in Norfolk, Virginia. The open fleet race fields boats from 14 different schools and 18 total boats. 

American, Christopher Newport, Delaware, Georgetown, George Washington, Hampton, Maryland, Navy, Penn State, Saint Mary’s, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and William & Mary will all be competing in Norfolk this weekend.

ODU’s open sailing team competes in the ILCA Laser South, a qualifying regatta for the eventual Van Duyne Trophy on October 3. The qualifying races will take place at Navy.

Old Dominion faces off against Georgetown, Saint Mary’s (Md.), and Washington College (Md.) in Annapolis, Maryland.

The final regatta of the opening weekend of sailing will be the Navy Women’s Regatta. The regatta will be held in Annapolis and will consist of six schools and nine potential boats. The Silver and Blue faces off against Christopher Newport, Georgetown, George Washington, Navy, and Saint Mary’s (Md.).
