NORFOLK, Va. – #20 Old Dominion field hockey returns to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on #5 North Carolina on Friday, Sept. 11.
The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start at Karen Shelton Stadium
UNC is 31-9 against ODU, including a 4-1 win last season in Norfolk on Oct. 5.
ABOUT ODU
Old Dominion is coming off of a 3-0 shutout against Penn following a 4-0 loss to #2 Pinceton, both of which were played in Chapel Hill last weekend. This split competition has brought the Monarchs record to 3-1, and will end its road stretch against UNC.
Serena Langendoen, Isabella DeCesaris, and Lotte Haagmans were the lone goal scorers against Penn.
Langendoen leads ODU in goals with three, while DeCesaris, Haagmans, Josie Painter, and Sofia Marciano are tied with two each. Painter and Langendoen are tied at the top for three assists in the season.
Fourth year goalkeeper Suus Broers accounts for 16 saves with six goals allowed on the season.

North Carolina is 2-2 after opening its season with a 2-1 overtime loss to #14 Michigan and a 3-2 loss to #11 Iowa. However, the Tar Heels turned things around with a 7-0 victory over Penn and a 1-0 shootout win over #2 Princeton.
Fourth year Charly Bruder and first year Sofia Ferri scored twice against Penn while Morgan O'Donnell, Grace Pottebaum, and Hope Haynes had two assists each.
Bruder and Ferri lead UNC in goals with three each, while Pottebaum, Coco Courtright, Molly Catchpole, and Molly Nussaumer are tied for second with one each. O’Donnell’s, Pottebaum’s, and Hayne’s two assists against Penn has put them at the top of the team in that category.
Second year goalkeeper Merritt Skubisz has recorded 13 saves and allowed two goals on the season.

The 2026 Jeff and Billye Athletics and Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony is set for Friday, Sept. 25 at Chartway Arena.
ODU field hockey alumna and midfielder Sarah Breen will be honored along with four other inductees. Breen was a 2x All-Big East First Team and 1x All-CAA First Team selection. She earned three NFHCA Division I All-American honors. Breen was a second team selection in 2015, and secured a third team nod in 2014. Breen finished her Old Dominion career with 104 points from 44 goals and 16 assists.
