NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University long snapper Brendan Durkin has been named to the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List, the organization announced on Monday night.
The Patrick Mannelly Award, named after former NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly, will be presented again this season to the player judged by a panel of national experts to be the best FBS long snapper.
Durkin transferred to ODU last season from New Mexico and played in all 13 games, handling snaps on field goals, extra points and punts. He recorded two tackles on the season and recovered a fumble in the StaffDNA Cure Bowl win over South Florida. For his career, Durkin has secured four tackles.
A native of Florida, New York, Durking is one of 20 long snappers on the watch list, and one of five long snappers from Group of Six schools, including Navy’s Rayne Fry, Army’s Owen Walter, Troy’s Colton Walls and Sam Houston State’s Carson Whitington.
