NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion men’s soccer plays Lehigh on Friday, August 28 at 7 p.m. with the chance to improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2012.
Friday’s matchup against the Mountain Hawks will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
LAST MEETING:
Old Dominion drew against the Mountain Hawks, 2-2 after a goal by LU’s Yousef Gueye leveled the game in the 89th minute on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Monarchs finished the 90 minutes with 11 shots, six of which were on goal, and had five corner attempts. The Mountain Hawks finished with seven shots in the game, four on target, and three corner kicks.
ABOUT ODU:
Old Dominion moved to 2-0 for the first time since 2017 after defeating Elon, 5-3 on Monday night in Norfolk, Virginia. ODU opened the season with a 3-1 victory over George Washington in the nation’s capital. Including ODU’s game on Friday against Lehigh, ODU has a five-game homestand that ends on Friday, September 11 against UMBC.
Fourth year forward Lewis Rourke ranks first on the Monarchs in total points (5) and is tied for first on the squad in goals scored. Fourth year Jason Purks netted two goals for a brace in ODU’s win over Elon on Monday for four points. Midfielders Jake Lane and Miguel Menendez have both scored one goal. ODU’s centre back partnership of David Chapman and Noah Dietze both scored in Monday’s winning effort against the Phoenix.
Second year goalkeeper Alexander Aguilar has made two starts, three saves, and logged 180 minutes in net. He provided an assist for Rourke’s second goal in ODU’s season opening win over George Washington.
ABOUT LEHIGH:
The Mountain Hawks are 0-1 after falling, 4-1 to La Salle on August 21. Lehigh was picked to finish third in the Patriot League Preseason Poll. Third year keeper Anton Kinnunen was named Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and fourth year midfielder Trey Sheeler earned Preseason Midfielder of the Year honors.
Lehigh scored its first goal of the season in the 17th minute from an own goal that was not credited to a player.
Head coach Dean Koski is in his 35th year in Bethlehem, Pa. and brought in nine new recruits in the offseason. He has a career record of 275-259-84 at the helm of the Mountain Hawks.
