NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer welcomes #2 Duke to Norfolk, Virginia for a game on Thursday, August 27 at 6 p.m.

LAST MEETING:
Old Dominion fell to the #4 Blue Devils, 1-0 in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on November, 12, 2021. ODU defeated Southern Miss, 1-0 in the C-USA Championship game to earn a postseason berth. The Silver and Blue almost fought their way to extra time after keeping the game scoreless for 89:42. But, with 17 seconds left, Duke’s Caitlin Cosme scored the game-winning goal to advance to the next round of the tournament.
ABOUT ODU:
Old Dominion has played four games this season and compiled a 1-3 record. ODU has had three losses with a margin of one goal between the sides. The Monarchs are coming off a 1-0 loss to #18 Demon Deacons on Sunday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and fell to UNCW, 2-1 on Thursday in Wilmington.
ODU’s third-year forward and Mullica Hill, N.J. native Hannah Morgan ranks first on the Monarchs with four points from two goals. A fourth-year transfer midfielder from St. Peter’s, Madison Telmer ranks second in points with three from one goal and one assist. A fourth-year defender from Littleton, Colo., Sydney Somers scored on ODU’s 3-0 win over Longwood to open her tally for the season. Ally Richardson, a fifth-year ULM transfer, scored directly from a free kick against the Lancers. Fourth-year forward and Staten Island, N.Y. native Riley Mullen has provided two assists to lead the team.
ODU goalkeeper and Alexandria, Va. native Ellie Goodrich has made three starts and has a record of 1-3 in net. She has made 11 saves and conceded four goals for a 73.3% save percentage. Transfer Emily Earles opened the season in net and played 45 minutes in goal.
ABOUT DUKE:
Duke’s overall record through its first four games is 3-0-1. The Blue Devils are 2-0 at home, 1-0-1 on the road, and currently are on a two-game win streak. Duke defeated USC, 3-1 on the opening game of the season in Los Angeles, California, but drew to #9 UCLA, 1-1 in the City of Angels. This past week, the Blue Devils defeated FIU (4-0) and Rhode Island (6-1) at home.
Mia Minestrella ranks first on Duke with 12 points from six goals. Katie Shea Collins, Sam Courtwright, and Avery Oder all rank second with seven points. Courtwright and Oder have both provided three assists. TopDrawerSoccer.Com featured five Blue Devils in its Preseason Best XI and ranked Duke the #1 transfer class in the country.
Molly Vapensky has played the most minutes in goal for the Blue Devils (321.27). Dominguez Bianca and Caroline Dysart have played 18 minutes and 21 minutes, respectively. Vapensky has made five saves and conceded three goals for a 0.84 goals against average.
