NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s basketball head coach Mike Jones has added seven transfers to round out the Monarchs’ 2026-27 roster. ODU’s seventh and final incoming transfer is Lucio Martini, a 7-foot forward who has been playing in Italy’s Serie B national league and has two years of eligibility.
“Lucio immediately addresses our desire to have size and skill in our lineup. His experience playing high level basketball in Italy will give him an opportunity to adjust to our game faster than most. He has great hands, feet and feel for the game. His IQ is elite and we are so excited to have Lucio as part of our family,” Jones said of Martini.

A native of Lugo, Italy, Martini played for UP Andrea Costa Mola for two seasons. In 2023-24, he averaged 3.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.2 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game through 11.5 minutes of action and 32 appearances for the White and Reds. The team also made a playoff appearance that season. In 2024-25, his production increased to 5.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game while playing 16.2 minutes in 38 contests.
For the 2025-26 season, Martini played in 28 games for Fulgor Fidenza. His playing time increased to 17 minutes per game, and he also bettered his numbers to 7.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per outing.
Martini played at the Virtus Bologna Youth Academy and helped lead them on a playoff run in 2024. He also has experience playing internationally, having played for the University of Bologna in the 2024 European Universities Games.
