DALLAS – Old Dominion University Football running back Devin Roche has been named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List, PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced on Tuesday.
The Doak Walker Award is given to the nation’s most outstanding college running back.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Roche started six games at running back in 2025 for the Monarchs, rushing for 630 yards on 111 carries and four touchdowns. He recorded three, 100-yard rushing games including a career high 145 yards in the win over Troy and 100 yards in the StaffDNA Cure Bowl win over South Florida.
Last week, Roche was named to the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award, given to the most versatile player in the country. Roche was also ODU’s primary punt returner last season, returning 19 punts for a 13.9-yard average, with a long of 49.
Roche and the Monarchs open the season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at home against Norfolk State at 6 p.m. Season tickets remain on sale for the 2026 season and can be purchased here.
