NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion sailing opens the 2026 season with the Riley Cup on home water on September 12-13 as head coach Mitch Brindley announced the team’s fall schedule on Thursday.
The Riley Cup will be an in-conference open event, ODU also competes in the Laser South in-conference open event and the Women’s Regatta - Combined the same weekend. The two regattas will be hosted by the Naval Academy.
ODU is back for the Faye Bennet Women’s Singlehanded Conference Championships on September 19-20. The Silver and Blue’s open team will compete in the Chesapeake Invitational and the Chesapeake Open. All three events will be hosted by the Naval Academy.
The Monarchs open sailing team competes in the Navy Fall open regatta on September 26-27 and will be hosted by Navy. The women’s sailing team is in action at the same time for the Navy Fall women’s regatta hosted by Navy.
The women’s sailing team is back on October 3-4 at the Women’s ACC Round One hosted by Dartmouth. The open sailing team will be competing in the Van Duyne Trophy which is part of the MAISA Open Singlehanded Conference Championship and is hosted by the Naval Academy. The team also competes in the College of Charleston Fall Regatta interconference open event hosted by the Cougars.
The open sailing team is back on October 10-11 with two competitions. ODU competes in the Oyster Bowl hosted by Georgetown and goes to the Naval Academy for the Open ACC Round one.
The women’s sailing team returns for the Women’s Atlantic Coast Championships on October 17-18 hosted by the St. Mary’s (Md.). The open sailing team competes in the Nevins Trophy at Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy.
The open sailing team competes in the Open Atlantic Coast Championships hosted by Brown on October 24-25. The women’s sailing team heads to New Haven, Connecticut for the Yale Women’s Regatta hosted by the Bulldogs.
The open sailing team competes in the War Memorial, it is the MAISA Fall Open Conference Championships and is hosted at the Naval Academy on October 31-Nov 1. The women’s sailing team competes on the same weekend at the MAISA Women's Fall Conference Championships hosted by Cornell.
Both sailing teams finish the fall season on November 7-8 at the College Sailing Singlehanded National Championships hosted by Fordham.
