NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion and Virginia women’s basketball begins a home-and-home series beginning in the 2026-27 season. The Monarchs welcome the Cavaliers back to the 757 on November 15 at Chartway Arena.
The Monarchs last faced off against the Cavaliers seven years ago on December 24, 2019, and fell, 56-53 in overtime at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia.
ODU holds a 19-16 advantage over UVA in the all-time series that dates to 1973. Virginia has won the last two matchups, while Old Dominion has an 11-4 record in home games against the Cavaliers.
Old Dominion finished last season with a record of 18-14 and went 9-9 in Sun Belt action. The Monarchs went 10-5 at Chartway Arena. ODU head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones has added two new assistant coaches with the arrival of Asia Williams and Gee Lawler. The Silver and Blue welcomed 13 recruits to the Monarchs’ 2026-27 roster, which includes three freshmen in addition to players who have featured on teams in the Power Four, and those that shined in D-II and JUCO.
The Monarchs will return to John Paul Jones Arena in the 2027-28 season for the first time since 2019. Virginia opened the John Paul Jones Arena 20 years ago in 2006 and the first official matchup was against Old Dominion.
Virginia finished last season 22-12 and went 11-7 in the ACC and made the Sweet 16. The Cavaliers recruited eight student-athletes and hired head coach Aaron Roussell this offseason. Roussell made his way to Charlottesville, Virginia after spending the last seven seasons at Richmond and compiled a 148-72 all-time record.
Women's basketball season tickets for the 2026-27 season will go on sale soon, with in-state rival Virginia visiting Chartway Arena on Nov. 15 among the highlights of the home slate.
