NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion Baseball’s Ben Tanton has earned another Freshman All-American selection as Perfect Game named him to its Second Team on Thursday.
The accolade follows a Second Team Freshman All-American selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) earlier this week. The Vestal, New York native becomes the first Monarch to earn multiple Freshman All-American honors since Blake Morgan was named to the NCBWA First Team, D1Baseball Second Team, and Collegiate Baseball’s Freshman All-American Team in 2022. Ben Moore was also named to Perfect Game’s Second Team in 2023.
The right-handed pitcher was named to the All-Sun Belt Freshman Team after posting a 7-0 record in his rookie season. He also collected one save, was a part of two shutouts, and owned a 2.19 ERA through one start and 17 appearances. He surrendered just nine runs on 21 hits and 13 walks while striking out 41 batters over 37 innings. Some of his other stats included a 0.92 WHIP and holding opponents to a .162 batting average against him.
