NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s sailing makes its way to St. Petersburg, Florida for the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women’s Fleet Race National Championship, hosted by South Florida. The event will take place from May 15-18 at the SkyBeach Resort.

Old Dominion enters as the 17 seed out of the 36-school competition as Stanford grabbed the first seed. Cornell and Georgetown were the two MAISA schools that gained automatic qualification and earned the sixth and seventh seeds, respectively. 

The championship will feature 36 teams with 12 teams automatically qualifying. All races are scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m., the semifinal will take place from May 15-16 and the final follows suit from May 17-18.

Attendance to the event is free and the public will be able to access SkyBeach Resort for viewing the races from the beach. Following the conclusion of the final on Monday the award ceremony will commence at the resort.

Most recently Old Dominion finished ninth at the 2026 America Trophy and eighth at the MAISA Women’s Team Race Championship. On March 28 the Monarchs placed third out of 15 schools at the MAISA Women’s Fleet Race Championship. 

The Silver and Blue finished second out of 18 programs at the St. Mary’s Women’s Inter-Conference on March 14 and finished first out of five schools at the Diamondback Women’s Fleet Race on March 7.

Old Dominion’s sophomore skipper Marina Conde and junior crew Molly Hanson were both named to the All-MAISA team this season. Conde notched First Team Skipper honors and Hanson was named to Second Team Crew. The team also had five sailors earn a selection to the ICSA 2026 All-Academic Team with Gianna Dewey, Emil Body-Goldberg, Blake Goodwin, Cadence Goodnight, and Kristin Johnson making the cut.
