NORFOLK, Va. – #56 Old Dominion men’s tennis hosts Delaware and VCU for the team’s final regular season matches this weekend.
"Our team has shown tremendous growth since January and really embraced how challenging every match in college tennis is day in and day out. We are currently ranked #56 in the country with a 15-6 record," Head Coach Dominik Mueller said. "We will honor our two seniors, Yanis Moundir and Thomas Nelson, at the conclusion of the VCU match, which should be somewhere around 3:30 p.m. depending on the length of the match. The weather forecast looks great for both days, so please come out, cheer, support us one last time this Spring, and stay to honor our Seniors. In a time of transfer portal, NIL, and college athletics chaos, having players stay their entire career at one school and getting their degree is not the norm anymore. This shows how special our program is and those guys deserve to be honored Sunday afternoon."
ODU takes on Delaware at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 10, while the Monarchs challenge the Rams at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 12. Both matches will have live streaming and stats available for fans, and the match against VCU will feature senior day honors for Yanis Moundir and Thomas Nelson following the conclusion of the match.
The Monarchs will look to rebound after falling to #60 Liberty last week on the road, snapping the team’s five-match winning streak. ODU is 15-6 on the season.
Delaware is 13-7 this spring and on a two-match losing streak following defeats to Drexel and UNCW last weekend on the road. Old Dominion leads the all-time record against the Blue Hens, 11-1.
VCU is 6-11 after splitting competition last weekend, where the Rams upset #57 Wichita State, 4-2, but fell to Tulsa, 4-0. The Rams are set to challenge #60 Liberty before traveling to Norfolk.
