NORFOLK, Va. – #53 Old Dominion men’s tennis travels to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to play Gardner-Webb for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

ODU secured its fourth-straight Sun Belt Conference Championship on April 19 over Troy by a 4-1 score. Freshman Zech Hamrouni claimed the win for the Monarchs on court five, becoming the third-consecutive freshman to claim the conference clinching point for ODU. A number of Monarchs won SBC honors, including Adam Majchrzak, who earned SBC Player of the Year, Piet Steveker, who won Newcomer of the Year, Hamrouni, claiming Freshman of the Year, and Head Coach Dominik Muller, earning SBC Coach of the Year. The Monarchs are 20-6 and on a five-match winning streak.

Gardner-Webb is 17-5 after winning the Big South Tournament for the second-straight season following a 4-2 victory over Longwood. The Runnin’ Bulldogs enter NCAA Tournament play on a four-match winning streak.

Old Dominion is making its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA tournament. The last time the Monarchs won a match in the NCAA Tournament was in 2007 when the Monarchs defeated Virginia Tech, 4-3, in the first round.
