MADISON, Miss. – Old Dominion men’s golf is in 12th place following Monday’s opening round of stroke play at the Sun Belt Conference Championship, which is being held at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi.
The Monarchs combined for a 13-over par 301 for the day. Coastal Carolina leads the 14-team field with a six-under par 282, Arkansas State is second with a four-under 284, and Southern Miss is third with an even 288.
Kaijun Ma led the team with an even 72 for his first 18 holes. He sits tied for 16th. Joe MacPherson and Cullen Campbell are both tied for 46th after recording a pair of four-over par 76s. Quin Covington and Jakub Sutor rounded out ODU’s scorecard with a couple of five-over 77s to tie for 52nd. Covington made the most birdies on the team with five, four of which came on the front nine, but also bogeyed holes 14-17.
A-State’s Jake Wallis is the current individual leader after shooting a four-under 68. Texas State’s Sakke Siltala and USM’s Benjamin Fernandez are tied for second and one stroke back of Wallis with a three-under 69.
For tomorrow’s second round of stroke play, the Monarchs will tee off from the 10th tee between 10:45-11:21 a.m. ET and will be paired with Georgia State and Louisiana.
