NORFOLK, Va. – #53 Old Dominion men’s tennis swept the Sun Belt Conference major awards as Adam Majchrzak earned Player of the Year, Zech Hamrouni Freshman of the Year, Piet Steveker was named Newcomer of the Year, and Dominik Mueller received Coach of the Year honors for the second-straight year, the Sun Belt announced on Thursday. The voting was conducted by the league’s head coaches.
Majchrzak went 12-6 in singles this spring and 3-0 during ODU’s run through the conference tournament.
Steveker earned Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year following a 17-3 spring record for singles play. He also had a 12-5 doubles record with Hamrouni.
Hamrouni was awarded Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, where he accounted for a 13-5 singles record, including the championship-clinching match in the SBC finals.
The trio were also named to First Team All-Conference.
Aryan Saleh earned Second Team All-Conference honors after going 17-1 this spring. He played primarily No. 3 through 6 and has won 10-straight decisions.
Majchrzak and Thomas Nelson earned First Team doubles honors after going 8-11 at No. 1 doubles.
Steveker and Hamrouni were named to the Second Team, going 12-5 at No. 2 doubles.
Dominik Mueller was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year, marking the second-straight year that he has earned the honor and fourth coach of the year honor of his career.
