NORFOLK, Va. – #56 Old Dominion men’s tennis swept Delaware, 4-0, on Friday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Yanis Moundir and Felix Obermair got the afternoon started for ODU with a 6-3 victory over James Sclater and Luke Tollenaar on court three. Zech Hamrouni and Piet Steveker followed suit, defeating Pere Prat and Itamar Tapiro, 6-3, on court two, giving the Monarchs the doubles point.
No. 1 Adam Majchrzak’s and Thomas Nelson’s match against Tobey Lock and Euan Mackenzie was suspended at 3-5.
Aryan Saleh extended Old Dominion’s lead following a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Tollenaar on court five, while No. 4 Hamrouni brought the Monarchs one point away from claiming the match after downing Tapiro, 6-4, 6-4. Steveker would be the one to seal the victory, besting Federico Garbero, 7-5, 6-3, on court three, sealing ODU’s sweep.
No. 1 Majchrzak’s, No. 2 Obermair’s, and No. 3 Moundir’s matches against Lock (6-7, 2-2), Mackenzie (7-5, 2-3), and Prat (5-7, 6-1) respectively were suspended.
Old Dominion hosts VCU on Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day, where Saleh and Nelson will be honored following the conclusion of the match.
