NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s rowing heads to Cherry Hill, New Jersey at Camden County’s Cooper River for the 27th annual Knecht Cup on Saturday, April 11. There will be a total of 47 events in total and racing begins at 7:30 a.m. and concludes by 5 p.m.
The Knecht Cup is one of the countries’ premier collegiate rowing competitions with over 389 entries including four from Old Dominion. ODU will compete in a 2V4+ starting at 10:04 a.m., a 1V4+ setting off around 10:45 a.m., a 2v8+ at 2:13 p.m., and lastly a 1V8+ at 3:58 p.m. to round out the day.
Adrian, Albany, Boston College, Boston, Bryant, Bryn Mawr, Bucknell, Canisius, Case Western, Catholic, Colgate, Delaware, Dominican, Drexel, Eastern Michigan, Embry-Riddle, Fairfield, Fordham, Franklin & Marshall, Franklin Pierce, George Mason, Georgetown, Gordon, Haverford, Holy Cross, Iona, Ithaca, Jacksonville, La Salle, Lafayette, Lehigh, Marist, Maryland, Massachusetts, MIT, Mercyhurst, Merrimack, Monmouth, MSOE, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York Maritime, Nova Southeastern, Oklahoma City, Old Dominion, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Radcliffe, Rhode Island, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart, St. Joseph’s, St. Mary’s (Md.), Stevens, Stockton, Susquehanna, Temple, Thomas Jefferson, Trinity, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, UConn, Villanova, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin will be competing on Saturday.
The Cooper River race course is located in Cooper River Park in Camden County, New Jersey. The start line is near Route 130 and the finish line is near Cuthbert Boulevard. The Cooper River is a 2,000-meter straight course with six lanes and races going westward. Spectators are allowed to set up tents in designated spectator areas but must not block pathways or be placed too close to the finish line or restricted areas of the park. Pets are allowed in most areas but must be leashed and owners must clean up after them.
