NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion open sailing will be in Annapolis, Maryland for the Truxtun Umstead Open Fleet Race while the women will be in Alexandria, Virginia for the MAISA Women’s Team Race Championship, the Monarchs round out the weekend with the Grant hosted by Old Dominion on April 11-12.
Eighteen competitors will compete in the Truxtun Umstead regatta and scoring will be split between two divisions. Boston, Coast Guard, Cornell, Eckerd, Fordham, George Washington, Georgetown, Hobart & William Smith, Jacksonville, Miami, Navy, Northeastern, ODU, Pennsylvania, San Diego State, St. Mary’s (Md.), Tulane, and Webb fills out the list of teams.
The MAISA Women’s Team Race Championship is hosted by Georgetown in Alexandria, Virginia. Old Dominion will compete in eight races on the day and start by meeting St. Mary’s (Md.) for the third race of round one before taking on Navy in the 10th race of the day. Next up is Hobart & William Smith in the 14th race of round one before facing Fordham in the 18th race. ODU meets Pennsylvania later in the afternoon for the 23rd race, George Washington for race 27, Georgetown meets the Monarchs for race 33, and ODU will take on Cornell in the last race of the day.
ODU hosts the Grant in Norfolk, Virginia starting on Saturday, April 11 and scoring will be split between two divisions. Christopher Newport, Columbia, Drexel, Hampton, ODU, Penn State Behrend, Princeton, Rochester, Rutgers, NY Maritime, Stevens, Kings Point, Maryland, Virginia, Washington State, and William & Mary will all compete for first place.
