NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion field hockey has announced the signing of two rising junior transfers from Saint Francis (Pa.).

Sofia Marciano | Midfield | Buenos Aires, Argentina | Del Viso Day School | Saint Francis (Pa.)

From Buenos Aires, Argentina, Marciano is a midfielder who collected a number of honors and awards during her two years at Saint Francis. In 2025, she earned All-NEC First Team, All-ECAC First Team, and was named to the NFHCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team after starting all 19 games. Marciano also recorded the second-most goals in program history for the Red Flash with 22.

“We welcome Sofia Marciano to the ODU field hockey family,” Head Coach Andrew Griffiths said. “Her exceptional offensive prowess and playmaking abilities will undoubtedly enhance our team's dynamic. Sofia's record-setting performances and international experience reflect her dedication and skill. We eagerly anticipate the impact she will make both on and off the field."

Cruz Cánepa | Midfield | Barcelona, Spain | Colegio Santo Angel | Saint Francis (Pa.)

A midfielder from Barcelona, Spain, Cánepa played alongside Marciano for her first two years of collegiate play. During her time at Saint Francis in 2025, she broke the program record for assists in a season with 17, had a career-high 19 points, and was named to the All-NEC Second Team.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cruz Cánepa to the ODU field hockey family,” Griffiths said. “Her exceptional vision, creativity, and ability to orchestrate play from the midfield will be a tremendous asset to our program.
