One of the oldest sporting events in all of women’s intercollegiate athletics, the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic began in 1973 as the Georgia Invitational before becoming the Women’s Southern Intercollegiate from 1977-94. It was then renamed in 1995 in honor of Liz Murphey, UGA’s Hall of Fame golf coach and Senior Woman Administrator.
This will be the first time since April 7-9, 2017 that ODU will play in the Classic. On the first day, Katerina Vlasinova and Charlotte De Corte finished stroke play tied for 27th at seven-over par 79 while the team placed 11th in a field that featured six Top-20 nationally-ranked teams. In bracket play, ODU fell to No. 11 South Carolina, 4-1 and to No. 22 Purdue, 3-2 on the second day. The Monarchs then dropped their match to No. 89 Troy, 3-2 on the final day of the Classic.
