NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s rowing opens the 2026 spring season on Friday when the team heads down to Bradenton, Florida to compete in the Sarasota 2K along with 33 other programs.

“Having our first regatta against all of our BIG 12 competition is great as it gives us an understanding of where we stand right now,” said ODU head coach Brian Conley. “Being able to also race on the course of our championship will make the feeling when we return in May an easier transition for the team. This weekend is important for us to build towards our goals.”

The Sarasota 2K is presented by WinTech and King Racing and the regatta is held at the Nathan Benderson Park.

ODU will match up against Barry University, Boston College, Brown, Central Florida, Dartmouth, Drexel, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical, Florida Tech, Florida State, Harvard, High Point, Jacksonville, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Northeastern, Nova Southeastern, Rollins, SMU, Stanford, Albany, Florida, Iowa, Louisville, UMass, Miami, North Carolina, Tampa, Tulsa, Washington, West Virginia, and Yale.

The Monarchs earned three selections in the For Stars Network Annual Watchlist. Molly Deegan, a sophomore and Winchester, Virginia native, and freshman duo Monroe LaRochelle and Makenzie Sourbrine were among the 196 athletes chosen across 94 different programs. ODU had the most selections out of the BIG 12 with Kansas’ Tya Drenne and Claire Van Mater making the list.
