NORFOLK, Va. — Old Dominion lacrosse opens American Conference play at Charlotte on Saturday afternoon at Jerry Richardson Stadium. The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
ABOUT THE MONARCHS
ODU is coming off a 5-4 win over Xavier on Tuesday afternoon. Brynn Bowen led ODU with 11 saves in goal. Julia Butler, Maria Snyder, Macy Steinwedel, Katie Pfeiler and Kayleigh Flanegan each scored a goal in the midweek win.
Natalie Calandra-Ryan leads the team with 22 points on 16 goals and six assists. She is followed by Molly Heimerl, who has 17 points on eight goals and nine assists which ranks her eighth in the conference for. Lydia Laney has 16 points on three goals and 13 assists which she ranks fourth in the conference for. Bowen is 5-2 and has recorded 70 saves while allowing 9.98 goals per game. Defensively, Calandra-Ryan leads the team with 13 caused turnovers and in draw controls with 43 this season.
ODU ranks 17th in the nation in clearing percentage (93.2%) and 19th in save percentage (48.0%). Bowen is 10th in the country in saves and 22nd in save percentage (47.6%).
ABOUT THE 49ERS
Charlotte is coming off a 16-14 win over Stetson on Sunday. Avery Olsen, Isa Torres and Brenna Romanello each scored four goals in the win. Sophia Rakis scored three goals, and Isabella Castelino added one. Goalkeeper Katie Ling made two saves in the win and has recorded 75 saves with a 3-3 record.
Torres leads the team with 38 points on 30 goals and eight assists, ranking first in the conference in goals per game and points per game. She is followed by Rakis, who has 25 points on 15 goals and 10 assists and ranks sixth in the conference in assists. Romanello has 21 points on 17 goals and four assists and ranks ninth in the conference in goals per game.
