NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s tennis travels north to Maryland on Friday, Jan. 30 before opening play at home against Penn State on Sunday, Feb. 1.
The Monarchs challenge the Terrapins at 1 p.m., before their home opener against Penn State at 11 a.m. Live stats will be available for both matches.
Maryland is 2-0 after opening its season with a 6-1 win over Georgetown and a 7-0 victory over Howard. Penn State is also undefeated after besting Villanova 7-0 and Saint Francis 6-1.
Due to inclement weather, ODU’s match against Mississippi State was canceled last weekend. However, the Monarchs had opened spring play at the Michigan Hidden Duals, where the team competed against Xavier, No. 13 Michigan, and No. 10 Ohio State.
Kira Matushkina was awarded Sun Belt Singles Player of the Week, the league announced on Jan. 21, after going 2-1 at the Invite, including a win over the No. 3 player in the country. Marina Markina and Uladzislava Manzhos also earned Sun Belt Doubles Team of the Week following a 2-1 weekend.
