NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s tennis returns to Norfolk for a doubleheader against Richmond and cross-town foe Norfolk State on Friday, Jan. 30.
 
To begin the day, the Monarchs take on the Spiders at 1 p.m. before challenging the Spartans at 6 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center with live stats and video available for fans to follow along with.
 
ODU has begun its season with a 2-2 record after splitting play at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Columbus, Ohio, where the team fell to Purdue 4-1 but defeated North Alabama 4-1. The Monarchs opened the season at home with a 6-1 win over Georgetown, before falling to Yale 5-2 the following day.
 
Norfolk State is coming off of competition at the Navy Invitational, while Richmond will look to rebound after falling to Liberty 7-0 in its season opener.
 
Jean-Karim Olivier de Sardan was named Sun Belt Singles Player of the Week on Jan. 28 following a 1-0 weekend where he defeated his North Alabama opponent and was leading against Purdue before his match was suspended. Furthermore, Piet Steveker and Zech Hamrouni earned Sun Belt Doubles Player of the Week after going 2-0 throughout the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
