NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s tennis opened its 2026 season by defeating Georgetown at home, 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Hoyas’ No. 2 doubles pair of Arthur O’Sullivan and Burke Pablo began the morning with a 6-0 sweep over Yanis Moundir and Zechariah Hamrouni. However, No. 1 Adam Majchrzak and Thomas Nelson kept the Monarchs going with a win over Arther O’Sullivan and Burke Pablo (6-2). For the doubles point, No. 3 Aryan Saleh and Piet Steveker downed Jacob Mann and Hank Williams (6-2) to put ODU ahead.
No. 5 Steveker began the singles matches off strong for the Monarchs by sweeping Hill 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 Majchrzak followed, besting James O’Sullivan (6-4, 6-0) to put ODU one point away from claiming the match. However, No. 1 Arthur O’Sullivan downed Moundir (6-2, 6-4) to keep the Hoyas’ hopes alive, though No. 6 Felix Obermair later beat Cyrus Zia (6-1, 6-4) to give ODU its first win of the season.
No. 3 Hamrouni and No. 4 Saleh continued playing following the team’s win, defeating respective opponents Joshua Lamm-Bocharov (7-6, 6-2) and Sahil Morey (6-2, 6-2), to make the final score 6-1.
Old Dominion remains home as they host Yale tomorrow, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. in the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
