NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s basketball rounds out its five-game road swing with a 12:30 p.m. road test at George Mason this Saturday at EagleBank Arena.

Series History
This will mark the 61st meeting between the two programs, with ODU ahead in the all-time series, 38-22. The Monarchs have won four of the last five games against the Patriots.
The two teams last played each other on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022 in Norfolk, a game that went to the Monarchs, 78-77. Chaunce Jenkins scored seven of his 17 points in the final 3:17, to include the game-winning basket with 2.5 seconds left. Tyreek Scott-Grayson tied his career high and led ODU with 30 points.
About ODU
The Monarchs (3-7) made the trip to Richmond last Saturday. ODU led the Spiders 36-35 at halftime and the game was tied at 58-58 with just over eight minutes to play, but Richmond pulled away late for an 86-77 final at the Robins Center.
KC Shaw leads the team with 14.7 ppg and needs 16 points to reach 1,000 for his career. Also averaging double-digit scoring are LJ Thomas at 13.3 ppg and Jordan Battle at 12.8 ppg. Roberts Davis Jr. (9.9 ppg) has knocked down a team-high 21 threes, to include a season high five in the loss to the Spiders. Battle has made 16 shots from distance and is shooting 84.0% at the free-throw line, and Jared Turner (5.3 ppg) is third in three-point shooting with 15 triples. Thomas and Battle have 35 and 29 assists, respectively.
Battle has pulled down 59 rebounds and leads ODU with 5.9 rpg. Caelum Swanton-Rodger (6.6 ppg) is grabbing 4.3 rpg, and Thomas is third with 4.2 rpg. Battle and Thomas have combined for 27 steals while Swanton-Rodger has made 11 blocks.
Old Dominion scores 75.3 ppg, but is allowing opponents to average 78.6 ppg. The Monarchs are shooting a combined 43.6% from the floor and 32.2% from beyond the arc. ODU ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in both free-throw shooting (73.6%) and fast break points (12.5 ppg). The Monarchs are currently 246th in the latest NET rankings.
About George Mason
The Patriots (9-1) won their first nine games of the season before falling 73-62 at Virginia Tech last Saturday. GMU was up 26-25 with over five minutes to play in the first half, but the Hokies answered with a 35-11 run in the middle of the game to pull away. Kory Mincy paced the Patriots with 16 points and eight assists while Riley Allenspach netted 11 points and Jahari Long contributed 10 points.
Mincy, a junior guard from East Point, Georgia, ranks second in the country with 97.6% shooting at the line and is 10th nationally with 52.6% shooting from the perimeter. He leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in points (189), points per game (18.9), minutes per game (34:47), ranks second in the league in made three-pointers (30) and threes per game (3.0), and is third with 59 made field goals.
Long is second on the team in scoring and nets 12.4 ppg, Masai Troutman averages 11.3 ppg, and Allenspach scores 11.1 ppg. On the glass, Allenspach owns 64 rebounds with 6.4 rpg. Mincy is the Patriots leader in assists with 40 and also has 10 steals, Dola Adebayo (4.3 ppg) is up to 11 steals, and Nick Ellington (5.1 ppg) has recorded 11 blocks.
GMU is outscoring its opponents by a margin of 14.8 points, with the Patriots netting 80.1 ppg while holding opposing teams to 65.3 ppg. George Mason enters Saturday’s game shooting 48.7% from the field, including 40.9% from the arc, and 75.6% at the charity stripe. The team ranks fifth in Division I in three-point shooting, 17th in free throws made per game (20.4), 18th in fouls per game (14.5), and 27th in free throw attempts per game (27.0) and scoring defense.
The Patriots are led by head coach Tony Skinn, who is in his third season and played at GMU from 2003-06. George Mason was picked to finish sixth in the A-10 Preseason Poll with Brayden O’Connor named to the Preseason All-Conference First Team. The team is 55th in the NET rankings.
The Patriots finished 27-9 overall last season and were A-10 Regular Season Co-Champions with a 15-3 mark in league play. They opened the National Invitation Tournament with an 86-69 win over Samford, but fell 75-67 to Bradley in the second round.
