NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion defender Serena Langendoen was named to the BIG EAST All-Conference first team and Sian Emslie, Sanci Molkenboer and Amelie Zielcke earned second team honors, the BIG EAST announced on Thursday.
“I’m really proud of these selections — especially this year. To have grown into a program recognized by our league’s coaches with one of the highest numbers of Big East honorees says so much about who we are and what we’re building together” Said Head Coach Andrew Griffiths.
Langendoen, a defender out of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on September 16 and October 20. She has started all 17 games on defense, scoring seven goals, with one assist for 15 points.
Broers, a goalie out of Utrecht in the Netherlands, has started at goal every game and has recorded 58 saves this season. The ODU keeper owns 1.63 goals against average, and holds three shutouts which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST. She also places sixth in saves per game in the BIG EAST, owning 58.
Emslie, a midfielder out Canterbury Kent, England, was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on October 14. She has started 15 games this season and leads the team with 23 points on eight goals and seven assists. She ranks third in points, sixth in assists, eighth in goals, ninth in shots on goals and 10th in defensive saves in the BIG EAST.
Molkenboer, an attack from Hillegom in the Netherlands, has started all 17 games this season. Her season totals include five goals, six assists and 16 points. With 46 shots she ranks second in the BIG EAST, as well as fourth in shots on goal, claiming 26.

“These individual awards are truly a reflection of the team’s collective effort — the way we’ve competed, supported one another, and earned respect across the conference. I am proud of the individuals: Serena, Suus, Amelie, Sian and Sanci are all impactful and special in different ways. Each of them can provide electric moments when they are at their best.
I’m equally proud of how our entire group — players and staff — have worked together to create these opportunities. This is what it’s all about.
I’m excited to see some of these electric moments from all of our players on Friday!” Added Griffiths
