NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion baseball and head coach Chris Finwood announced the team's upcoming 2026 schedule on Friday afternoon.
The Monarchs will play 33 home games at the Ellmer Family Baseball Complex on TowneBank Field.
“The 2026 schedule features 12 games versus NCAA tournament teams and 33 home games including series versus NCAA regional teams UConn and Southern Miss,” said ODU head coach Chris Finwood. “We also have midweek dates with in-state foes VCU, Richmond, William and Mary and Norfolk State, as well as East Carolina at the Ellmer Family Ballpark. Getting back to playing at home is so exciting for us after spending last season all on the road and we hope to see our fans out at the ballpark."
In non-conference action, the Monarchs will host series against Quinnipiac (Feb. 13-15), Niagara (Feb. 20-22), Charlotte (Feb. 27-March 1), and UConn (Mach 6-8). ODU will also play several home-and-home series against VCU, Norfolk State, William & Mary, and Richmond. The Monarchs will play at VCU on Feb. 17, at NSU on Feb. 25, at ECU on March 10, at UofR on March 25, and at W&M on April 7. The Spartans will come to ODU on March 18, the Tribe will visit for a midweek game on March 24, the Spartans will make the trip to Norfolk on April 15, the Pirates will be in town on April 21, and the Rams on April 28.
The Monarchs will also host a midweek game versus Manhattan on Feb. 18 and will play a single game at Virginia on March 31.
“We are excited about this year’s team, so far this fall it has shown to be a good blend of returners and newcomers. We have solidified our lineup both offensively and defensively and we like how the pitching staff has been reshaped. This group has worked hard to come together as a unit and we believe they have the skillset and toughness to compete at a high level in one of the best baseball conferences in the country.”
ODU will open Sun Belt Conference play on the road at Troy on March 13-15. Other road series in league play include traveling to South Alabama (March 27-29), Marshall (April 10-12), Georgia State (April 24-26), and Coastal Carolina (May 8-10). The Monarchs will host Sun Belt series against App State (March 20-22), Southern Miss (April 2-4), Georgia Southern (April 17-19), Arkansas State (May 1-3), and James Madison (May 14-16).
“The Sun Belt schedule as always will be a long and challenging 10-week grind with home series versus James Madison, Arkansas State, Southern Miss, Georgia Southern, and App State and road series versus Marshall, Coastal Carolina, Troy, South Alabama and Georgia State. Again, it will be nice to be able to play half of those series on our home field,” added Finwood.
ODU Athletics will announce details regarding its plans for seating and fan experience elements in the coming weeks for the 2026 season.
The 2026 Sun Belt Conference Championship will be held on May 19-24 at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama.
