NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion defensive end Kris Trinidad earned Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in ODU’s 33-0 win over Troy, the league office announced on Monday.
Trinidad registered five tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles in ODU’s dominant performance against the Trojans. ODU held Troy to a program record low 138 total yards and delivered a program record nine sacks. The shutout was the second in ODU history and the first since a 6-0 victory over Charlotte in 2017.
Trinidad forced a fumble on Troy’s first offensive play of the game that Mario Easterly recovered, and the offense turned quickly into seven points. Trinidad’s two sacks were a career single-game high that vaulted him into third in ODU history with 14.5 sacks.
Trinidad and the Monarchs travel to Georgia Southern on Saturday, Nov. 22 for a 1 p.m. kick.
