POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Old Dominion men’s golf wrapped up play at the15th annual ODU/OBX Intercollegiate on Monday night at Kilmarlic Golf Club.

Originally scheduled as a three-day tournament this Sunday through Tuesday, the tournament was shifted to a two-day event to avoid inclement weather expected to hit the Outer Banks late Monday and on Tuesday. The field played 27 holes on Sunday and the final 27 holes on Monday.

Cullen Campbell was the top finisher for the Monarchs. The fifth year from Virginia Beach started off the Intercollegiate with a one-under 70 in the opening round, but followed with a second round of 76 and a final round of 74 to end up tied for 32nd at 220 (+7).

Jakub Sutor didn’t have the best start with a 76 and a 75 for his first two rounds, but the sophomore from the Czech Republic moved up 20 spots in the standings with a final round of 72. That effort saw him tie for 37th with a 10-over par 223.

Joe MacPherson was next, his final tally of 11-over 224 tying him for 43rd. Garret Cameron turned in an 18-over 231 to tie for 69th, and James Page came in 73rd with a 54-hole total of 234 (+21). Quin Covington and Heath Stout both competed as individuals. Covington carded a 224 (+14) to tie for 57th, while Stout shot a 238 (+25) to tie for 78th.

In the team standings, the Monarchs placed 13th with a combined total of 42-over par 894. William & Mary won the Intercollegiate with an even 852. Georgetown and Longwood spent the final 18 holes jockeying for second place, but it was the Hoyas who earned runner-up honors with a seven-over 859. The Lancers were two strokes back and in third with a nine-over 861. W&M’s Eli Felty secured individual medalist honors with a four-under 209, holding off runner-up Carson Erick from Georgetown by one stroke. Maryland-Eastern Shore’s Andreas Roman rounded out the top three with a one-under 212.

“It was a very disappointing finish for our fall season today in our ODU/OBX tournament,” said ODU head coach Murray Rudisill. “I’m sure all the players will be working hard during the offseason to get ready for the spring semester.”

In the second round, Campbell and MacPherson both made eagle putts on the par-5 12th hole. Covington and Stout led ODU with nine birdies each, while Campbell and Sutor had the most putts for par with 34 apiece.

The Monarchs will open their spring season at the Dorado Beach Collegiate, hosted by UNC Greensboro on Feb. 22-24 at TPC Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico.
