NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion men’s soccer welcomes Coastal Carolina to the ODU Soccer Complex on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. for the third Sun Belt Conference game. Both sides are looking for their first conference win.
The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all fans who wish to follow along with the action.
LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE CHANTICLEERS:
The Monarchs played the Chanticleers last season at the CCU Soccer Complex on October 23, 2024. ODU’s William Arnesen opened the scoring in the 21st minute before CCU leveled the game nine minutes later in the 30th from Loed Klaasen. Monarch defender Marcelo Randolf re-established the ODU advantage with five minutes left in the first half to go up 2-1 at the break. Coastal Carolina’s Deryn Armstrong tied the game again in the 56th. Evan Watt scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd thanks to an assist by Andrew Bennett and ODU came away from Conway with a 3-2 result.
ABOUT ODU:
The Monarchs are 2-2 in their last four games and have beaten UMBC who were previously undefeated until ODU came to Baltimore, Md. and defeated in-state foe William & Mary 3-1 while dropping games against #25 Georgia Southern (2-1) and Georgia State (5-2).
Jake Lane leads the Monarchs with four goals and 10 points, Alex Kryazhev is right behind him with two goals and five assists for nine points. Rounding out the top scorers on the team is Lewis Rourke with three goals and one assist for seven points. Jago Lott, a transfer student from UMBC scored his first goal in a Monarchs uniform last weekend against Georgia State.
Michael Statham has played every minute in goal in the past three seasons for ODU and has made 31 saves and has three shutouts to his name.
ABOUT CCU:
The Chanticleers are on a five-game losing streak after opening their season with a 3-0 win over Winthrop. In their last two games against Sun Belt opponents, CCU has fallen 2-1 to #6 Marshall in Huntington and 2-0 to #18 Kentucky at home.
Klaasen, Jaland Larmond, and Angel Lopez are all tied for first on the team with six points. Klaasen ranks first in assists (4), Larmond, Lopez, and Christian Cook each have two goals.
Harrison Gough and Alec Laible have split time in net for the Chanticleers with Gough making four starts, 10 saves, and he has one clean sheet. Liable has made two starts and has five saves.

ODU heads to Columbia to take on South Carolina on Sunday, October 10 before returning to Norfolk to have the final non-conference battle against Regent on Tuesday, October 14.
