NORFOLK, Va - ODU women’s soccer rekindles a Sun Belt matchup that was last seen three years ago against Troy. The Monarchs matchup with the Trojans for the second all-time meeting on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.

The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all fans who wish to follow along with the action.

LAST TIME OUT VS TROY:

Old Dominion traveled to Troy, Alabama for the lone all-time meeting against the Sun Belt West Division foe. The Monarchs came away with a 1-0 victory thanks to a 35th minute game-winning goal from Miya Lennon. Emily Bredek made seven saves to avoid the Trojans from securing a goal to level the game.

ABOUT ODU:

ODU sits in second place in the Sun Belt through four games and are first in the East Division. The Monarchs are 4-0-2 in their last six games and 6-0-5 at the ODU Soccer Complex in their last 11 Sun Belt Conference games. The 11-game non-losing streak is the second longest active streak in the league next to Texas State at 13-straight. ODU ranks first in the conference in attendance with an average of 597 fans through two games.

Old Dominion is coming off a thrashing of Southern Miss, 7-1 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The seven goals ranked tied for second all-time in ODU program history for most goals scored in a game and was the highest scoring game since 2012 when ODU dispatched VMI 6-1.

Riley Mullen leads the Monarchs with four goals and three assists in nine games played. She ranks first in the SBC in assists (3), assists per game (1.00), points per game (1.67), and is third in total points (5) in Sun Belt Conference games. Freshman forward Ashley Economopoulos has three goals and one assist for seven points. Her two goals and .50 goals per game in Sun Belt Conference action rank tied for first. Yuliia Khrystiuk has been a creator of goals with four assists to lead the Monarchs and rank fifth in the SBC in all games played.

The Monarchs are tied for first in the Conference in total goals allowed (2) goals against average (.50), and shutouts (2). ODU ranks first in assists (10), assists per game (2.50), shots (79). ODU’s defense ranks first in all games played in the SBC with seven goals and 0.70 goals against average in 10 games played.

ABOUT TROY:

The Trojans are 5-4-2 and are currently winless in Sun Belt Conference play with an 0-2-2 record. On the road Troy is 2-3-1 and 0-1-1 when traveling to face SBC opponents. The head coach of the Trojans, in his third year, is Stuart Gore. Troy met JMU in their last game played which ended 0-0 at the Troy Soccer Complex.

The leading goal scorer on the Trojans this season has been Jiselle Daniels with a +5 margin over the rest of her teammates, she has seven goals for 14 points. Alaina Uncapher and Elsa Stedman round out the top three point contributors with six and five, respectively. 

Taylor Richards has made 10 starts and has allowed seven goals whilst making 46 saves for a .868 save percentage. Troy’s record with her in goal is 5-3-2, she has four clean sheets.

The Monarchs won’t return to the ODU Soccer Complex until Oct. 24 against Arkansas State as ODU heads on a three-game road stint starting with Marshall on Sunday, Oct. 5 before heading to Statesboro on Oct. 11 to face Georgia Southern and finishing in Lafayette against Louisiana on Oct. 17.
