NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s basketball has announced that Janay Ward will join the Monarchs staff in the role of athletic trainer.
Ward joins the Monarchs after previously working at UMBC as the athletic trainer for the Retriever’s men’s soccer team as well as working with the cross country and track and field teams. Prior to being in Baltimore, Ward was the athletic trainer at Georgia Tech for the cross country and track and field teams.
“I’m excited to be joining a program with a winning culture, one that embodies a true ‘championship effort’,” said Ward. “Where I’ll have the opportunity to be surrounded by dedicated staff and athletes who not only share the same goals, but also push one another to grow, achieve, and strive for excellence both on and off the court.”
Ward graduated from Towson in the spring of 2023 with her masters of science in athletic training and worked with the men’s lacrosse team during her time at her alma mater. She also worked at the Towson Health Center and assisted musculoskeletal evaluations among other responsibilities. While at Towson she was named the Outstanding Senior in the Athletic Training Program.
The native of Waldorf, Maryland also spent time working at Calvert Hall College High School, Loyola (Md.), and Stevenson University. At Calvert Hall College High School she worked with 11 different teams. While at Loyola she was on the staff with the men’s soccer, women’s track and field, and cross country. Lastly, she worked with the football and men’s basketball team at Stevenson University at the DIII level.
