NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion Football travels to Virginia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 13 for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the Hokies.

The game will be on the ACC Network and broadcast on the ODU Sports Network.

• ODU defeated North Carolina Central 54-6 last week.

• Virginia Tech fell at home to Vanderbilt, 44-20.

• Quarterback Colton Joseph completed 19-of-24 passes against NCCU for 257 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown.

• Running back Trequan Jones had five carries against the Eagles for 163 yards, including a school record 93-yard runs, and touchdown runs of 39 and 14 yards. They were the first five carries of his career.

• Wide receiver Ja’Cory Thomas caught a career high six passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. TJ Lott, Dawson Johnson and Sidney Mbanasor registered their first career receptions.

• Safety Jerome Carter and cornerback Brandon Crutchfield notched their first career interceptions for ODU in the win.

Mario Easterly and Seth Naotala led the Monarchs with seven tackles apiece.

• Linebacker Jeremy Mack recorded a sack for the second-straight game.

Trequan Stands for Touchdown
Junior running back Trequan Jones has only five carries on the year but he has made them count. His first rush went for a 39-yard touchdown against NCCU to give ODU a 9-0 lead. His second carry went for 14 yards before a school record 93-yard touchdown run on the first play of the third quarter. His fourth carry of the day went for a 14-yard score before his fifth and final carry went for three yards.

His 93-yard run is the second longest run of the season. Jones earned Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Easterly Packs the Punch
Safety Mario Easterly led ODU in tackles for the second-straight game with seven in the win over NCCU.

Easterly led the defense against Indiana with a career high 13 tackles, surpassing his career high of eight in the first half. 

Mack Attack
A linebacker/safety hybrid, Jeremy Mack had three sacks in 2024. He notched his second-straight game with a sack in the win over NCCU. 

Young Guys With the Picks
Sophomores Jerome Carter and Brandon Crutchfield saw a lot of playing time last season on special teams. In 2025, they are taking advantage of playing time on defense.

Carter and Crutchfield each recorded their first career interceptions in the win over North Carolina Central.

Carter had 11 tackles in the opener at Indiana, and five in the win over NCCU. He’s second on the club in tackles with 16.

Block Party
ODU blocked two punts on Saturday against NCCU, tying them with Notre Dame and South Carolina for the most blocked kicks since 2021.When Ricky Rahne took over as head coach.

ODU blocked three kicks last season, including a blocked punt in the opener at South Carolina.

ODU blocked six kicks in 2021, four in 2022, two in 2023 and three in 2024.
