CONWAY, S.C. - Old Dominion women’s soccer shares the points against Coastal Carolina after a 0-0 draw at the Coastal Carolina Soccer Stadium on Sunday night.

The first opportunity to score in the game for Old Dominion (5-1-3, 1-0-2 SBC) came in the fifth minute when the Monarchs got their first corner kick. Two minutes later, Yuliia Khrystiuk’s attempt at goal was blocked by a CCU (3-4-2, 0-1-2 SBC) defender. ODU had five shots in the first half but none were on target. The Monarchs had a corner with 38 seconds left to play in the half but did not generate a shot from it.

“This was another frustrating game for us today here,” said ODU head coach Angie Hind. “It took us some time to get going in the game and I thought our second half was much more dominant.”

The Monarchs dominated possession in the first half and continued into the final half of action. Katie Lutz fired an attempt at goal five minutes in but it went off the mark. The Monarchs conceded their first corner of the night to the Chanticleers in the 54th minute but the ODU defense didn’t allow a shot from it. ODU tested the CCU goalkeeper in the 69th minute of play after Gry Boe Thrysoe shot it towards the bottom right of the goal but it was saved by Aris Lamanna. The Monarchs ramped up the pressure and got a corner and twenty seconds later a shot from Brooke Edwards went off the mark. Ashley Economopoulos also had a chance on the right side of the box and fired it across goal and out of play. The Monarchs’ last shot of the game came in the 82nd minute from Khrystiuk but it was blocked by a Chanticleer.

“We had a few good looks on goal but couldn’t convert and that’s really the story of the game,” added Hind. “It’s a point and another undefeated weekend in conference.”

Old Dominion had 13 shots, two shots on goal, and six corner attempts. The Chanticleers one had shot, zero on goal, and two corners. Thrysoe and Khrystiuk both had three shots and Economopoulos had two. Dylan McEntarfer, Ashlynn Kulha, and Ellie Goodrich all played 90 minutes.

Goodrich wasn’t forced to make a save and CCU’s Lamanna made two with both playing the whole game.
