NEW ORLEANS - Old Dominion women’s soccer’s Ashlynn Kulha has been named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The junior from Holly Springs, North Carolina marshaled the ODU back line that gave up one shot in the entire game against Power Four opponent Maryland. She scored a diving header in the victory over the Terrapins to give Old Dominion a 2-0 lead in the 48th minute thanks to an assist by Koto Davis.
Additionally, Kulha has been named to the 2025 Hermann Trophy Watch List earlier in the month. She was also named Sun Belt Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, All-Sun Belt Team, and was ranked in the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Top 100 Players coming in at 63.
Kulha has started all three games for the Monarchs and is a team captain along with Andrea Balcazar and Gry Boe Thrysoe.
The Monarchs play the Liberty Flames on Sunday, August 31 at 6 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Stadium.
