LAST TIME OUT:
The first and only time Georgetown and ODU met was in the 2023 NCAA Tournament where Old Dominion fell in a tight contest, 2-1 in overtime. The Monarchs opened the scoring after capitalizing on a set-piece free-kick from Anna Torslov. Her arching delivery fell right in the path of Ashlynn Kulha and the freshman defender headed the ball into the right corner of the net. ODU held onto the lead until the 72nd minute when Brianne Riley leveled the game 1-1. Neither side could find the game-winning goal in regulation and the match went to extra time. The Hoyas found the winning goal from Natalie Means in the 100th minute of action and ODU were unable to bring the game back to even footing. Georgetown’s Head Coach Dave Nolan was quoted after the game saying “All credit to Old Dominion, they were every bit the team we thought they would be.”
Old Dominion dispatched the Tribe 2-0 in the Monarchs third game of the 2024 regular season. ODU hit the back of the net early in the first half, with Brooke Edwards scoring her first goal of last season from an assist by Andy Balcazar in the sixth minute of action. Two minutes later, in the eighth minute, Balcazar switched to being on the receiving end of a ball from Rhea Kijowski to extend the Monarchs lead and put the game to bed. ODU registered eight shots on target and goalkeeper Emily Bredek was credited with making nine saves in 90 minutes of action.
