NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion Football Head Coach Ricky Rahne has added Kresean Reed as cornerbacks coach, Rahne announced on Wednesday.

“Adding Kresean to our staff is a huge addition to our program,” Rahne said. “He comes to us with tremendous experience and an impeccable reputation built on hard work and production.

Reed comes to ODU after spending the 2024 season at Akron coaching the corners. Reed helped the Zips to their best season in seven years.

Prior to Akron, Reed worked as the defensive backs coach at Northern Arizona in 2023. He helped the Lumberjacks lead the Big Sky in interceptions and turnovers in conference games and finish fourth in pass defense.

Reed spent the 2022 campaign across town at Norfolk State coaching the defensive backs for the Spartans. With the Spartans he coached a pair of all-conference selections in Joseph White and RJ Coles.

Reed joined NSU after a two-year stint at Arkansas, where he served as a graduate assistant defensive backs coach. He assisted with coaching the Razorbacks’ defensive backs and special teams. In 2020, Arkansas ranked second in the SEC and 13th nationally in interceptions and had a pair of All-SEC selections from their defensive backfield.

Prior to his time at Arkansas, Reed was a graduate assistant at Midwestern State (Texas). He also worked with the defensive backs at MSU, helping the Mustangs rank third in the Lone Star Conference in interceptions in 2018.

He got his coaching start at Phoenix College, serving as defensive backs coach and later defensive coordinator.

Reed earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Adams State in 2015 and his master’s in human resources from Arkansas in 2021.

Reed recorded 25 tackles with an interception and a pair of pass breakups as a senior for Adams State in 2014.
