SARASOTA, Fla. - Old Dominion women’s rowing capped off the season with five races at the BIG 12 Championship held in Nathan Benderson Park. Central Florida swept all six races held at the Championship and ODU had its best conference finish since 2011.

“It was a great end to the season for the team, the best Big 12 finish ever for the program and the best conference finish for the team since 2011, it really shows the progress this team has made in such a short time,” said ODU Head Coach Brian Conley.
ODU started its first official race in the third event, a 2V4+ and finished in fifth with a final time of 8:11.192, Central Florida (7:33.980) came in first ahead of Kansas State (7:47.864).

The final event of the day was a 1V8+ race, ODU finished in fifth (6:57.606) and UCF (6:22.086) completed a sweep of the Championship coming in first for the sixth time of the day.
“We are still hungry and want more as any team does who falls short of winning, but the team is believing now that we can compete at this level and that will be enormous for us moving forward,” added Conley. “The seniors are going to be missed and were such great leaders for this team this year, I’m excited about who will step up to lead next year and the incoming freshmen will only add to what we have going on.”
