NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion University Women’s Tennis raked in All-Sun Belt accolades on Wednesday, as Sofia Johnson was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year, Kira Matushkina was named the Player to Watch and Dominic Manilla was named Coach of the Year, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Johnson earned her second straight conference player of the year honor, while Manilla was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year for the third straight year.

Johnson and Matushkina also earned first team honors for singles and were joined by Lidiia Rasskouskaia.

The Sun Belt Conference regular season champion Monarchs also had a pair of first team all-conference doubles teams, as Johnson and Victoria Matasova received the honors as well as Matushkina and Marina Markina.

A senior from London, England, Johnson is 25-6 overall on the year and 14-2 at the No. 1 spot this spring and is unbeaten in Sun Belt action. Currently ranked No. 24 in the country, this is Johnson’s third straight first team all-conference honor and second player of the year award.

Matushkina is 20-7 on the year and 12-3 this spring playing all but one match at the No. 2 spot. She went 6-1 in league play this season.

Rasskouskaia was last season’s Sun Belt Player to Watch and is 17-5 on the year and 12-2 this spring, playing primarily at the No. 3 singles spot. She is 7-1 in conference action.

Johnson and Matasova became a doubles pairing in the middle of March and were 7-2 overall and 7-1 in Sun Belt play at the No. 1 spot.

Matushkina and Markina spent the majority of the spring together and were 11-3 overall and 7-0 in Sun Belt action at the No. 3 position.
