Norfolk, Va. -  Old Dominion women’s rowing will host the Temple Owls on Saturday, April 19 in Norfolk, Virginia on the Lafayette River for Senior Day.

Races will begin at 9AM, the best places to watch from are at 601 Mayflower Road area approximately 800-1000 meters into the race course or by Granby Street bridge which is approximately 500 meters to go on the course.

“The team is excited to host our second home race of the season against Temple this weekend,” said ODU Head Coach Brian Conley. “Temple was in the American Conference with us the past few years and last year turned into some good racing between the teams when we lined up against each other, I would expect nothing but the same this weekend.”

ODU 1V8+ will kick things off at 9 am against Temple. The 2V8+ boat will set off at 9:20 am before the 1V4+ race begins at 9:40 am. At 10 am the 2V4+ and 3V4+ boat will take place.

“This is the first time Temple has come to Norfolk to race and the race schedule will allow the Varsity 8’s race at near to no current conditions and the other boats to have increasing tail current for the race, we have been working this year to race in any type of conditions and I think the team has done a nice job of learning how to find speed even in choppy or flat water,” continued Conley.

Following the conclusion of the event there will be a Senior Day Celebration at 11 am at the boathouse.

“Saturday will be our seniors' last home race and we will be celebrating them afterwards at the boathouse with family and friends, it will be fun and hopefully a fast day for the Monarchs!” said Conley.

ODU Rowing will be back in action on May 18 in the BIG 12 Championship in Sarasota, Florida.
