DAYTONA, FL. - The Old Dominion cheer team traveled to Daytona, Florida, this past weekend to compete in the NCA College Nationals Competition. The Monarchs competed against 15 other schools nationwide in the Intermediate Small Coed Division IA level.
On day one of the competition, the team’s routine performed a 91.3 score with zero deductions, placing ODU seventh out of 16 in the prelims.
The second day of competition saw the team perform a 91.8 with .075 deductions for a bobble in the pyramid, placing ODU in 6th place to end the competition.
“The competition is an incredibly intense and competitive environment where college cheerleaders get to showcase their talent and skills. For those who’ve never been, it can feel overwhelming and even a little intimidating,” said ODU Head Coach Tara Hilbert. “But at the end of the day, every team shares the same goal–to hit zero deductions. That was our goal, and we did just that!”
