NEW ORLEANS, La. - Old Dominion University men’s basketball guard Sean Durugordon has been selected to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team, as announced by the conference on Monday night.
The Monarchs won three games in the Sun Belt conference tournament before falling to eventual tournament champion, Troy (75-59) on Saturday.
In the tournament, Durugordon averaged a double-double, scoring 18.8 points and grabbing 12.5 rebounds per game. The redshirt senior made three steals and swatted six blocks while also shooting 46.4% from the field, 43.8% from deep, and 94.1% from the charity stripe whilst logging 37.8 minutes per game.
In ODU’s tournament opener against 11 seed Louisiana, Durugordon finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds (five offensive) while blocking two shots and swiping one steal as the Monarchs won 67-49. The native of Harlem, New York followed the performance by scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 boards (two offensive) against seven seed Texas State in a 64-61 victory. Durugordon scored 21 points and reeled in 12 rebounds (three offensive) in a 61-56 win over six seeded App State. In ODU’s final game of the tournament the guard scored 14 points and secured 16 rebounds (five offensive) in the loss to Troy.
In 35 games played this season, the redshirt senior has secured a total of 136 offensive rebounds which leads the nation while ranking seventh in offensive rebounds per game (3.89). Durugordon recorded 17 double-doubles this season ranking sixth in the country.
Old Dominion finished with an overall record of 15-20 and went into the Sun Belt tournament as the 10 seed. The Monarchs were tasked with winning six games in six days but fell to eventual tournament winners Troy in the Quarterfinals.
