NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion Baseball junior pitcher Dylan Brown has been named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

A native of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Brown helped the Monarchs (2-4) secure their first win of the season on Saturday as he threw eight shutout innings at Charlotte. The lefthander set a new career high with 13 strikeouts and retired 16 batters in a row. He allowed just two hits and issued two walks while facing 28 batters. Brown struck out the side in the fourth inning and also retired the 49ers in order in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Brown is now 1-0 in two starts this season. Through games played this past Sunday, he ranks first in the Sun Belt and second in the nation with 23 strikeouts. He also leads the conference with 2.77 hits allowed per nine innings and 15.92 strikeouts per nine innings and is second in the league with a 0.62 WHIP.

ODU will be in Greenville, North Carolina on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. game at East Carolina. The game was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the game was moved back a day after ECU and No. 6 North Carolina had to adjust their weekend series due to weather.
