BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Old Dominion lacrosse handed a defeat to Campbell in a thrilling back-and-forth game with a 11-8 final on Saturday afternoon at Campbell.

Alex Kulinski opened the game with a goal just under the 14 minute mark for ODU, with Sarah Murrell finding the back of the net not too long after to give the Monarchs a 2-0 lead. Campbell responded with three goals in under four minutes, coming from Lexi Goff, Paige White, and Rasa Welsh. The Fighting Camels ended the first quarter with another goal from Welsh, putting them up 4-2.

Campbell continued to find the net as Delaney Nicolaus scored first in the second quarter. However, on a free-position shot, Murrell grabbed her second goal of the game, and under three minutes later Sydney Taylor added another point on the board for the Monarchs to make the score 5-4. While Bridget Ahlgren knocked one in for Campbell, ODU would head to the locker room tied at six after goals from Callie Culhane and Murrell knotted the score at six.

Josie Parrett broke the tie for the Fighting Camels to begin the second half, though both Taylor and Kulinski grabbed their second goals of the game in response. The Monarchs would take the quarter  after Annalynn Pompetti found the back of the net for her first goal of the season, bringing her team up 9-7.

The second hat trick for the Monarchs came Kulinski as she began the fourth quarter off strong for ODU. At the four-minute mark, Nicolaus grabbed her second goal, but Kulinski sealed the game for the Monarchs with her fourth goal to earn an 11-8 victory.

Murrell had seven draw controls and two ground balls on top of her hat trick, while Taylor accounted for two goals and one draw control with Culhane recording one goal, one assist, and two draw controls. Goalie Brynn Bowen accounted for 12 saves. 

Old Dominion lacrosse continues its road trip next week as they travel up to VCU on Wednesday, February 26 at 1 p.m.
