Women's Soccer Posts Six on CSC Academic All-District Team

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion Women’s Soccer Players Ashlynn Kulha, Katie Lutz, Katie McCormick, Riley Mullen, Gry Boe Thrysoe, and Sydney Somers were named CSC (College Sports Communicators) to the Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced on Tuesday.

NORFOLK, Va - Old Dominion Women’s Soccer Players Ashlynn Kulha, Katie Lutz, Katie McCormick, Riley Mullen, Gry Boe Thrysoe, and Sydney Somers were named CSC (College Sports Communicators) to the Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced on Tuesday. 

The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Those earning all-district honors required a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 without rounding up and must’ve either started in 66% or competed in 90% of all matches. 

Ashlynn Kulha secured a GPA of 3.67 with a major in Business. The sophomore defender from Holly Springs, N.C. played and started 20 games, with a goal on September 29th against James Madison. Kulha was named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and All-Sun Belt Conference First Team. Kulha has also been selected for advancement to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members, First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on December 11, 2024.

Katie Lutz secured a GPA of 3.68 with a major in Exercise Science. The sophomore midfielder from Carrollton, VA played 19 games and started 17 games for the Monarchs. Lutz was able to score two goals this season, one being the game-winning goal against George Mason. The other contributed to the win against Longwood. 

Katie McCormick secured a GPA of 3.97 with a major in Ocean and Earth Science. The senior midfielder from Haddonfield, N.J. played 19 games and started 15 games. The midfielder was able to gain an assist in the September 29th game against James Madison. 

Riley Mullen secured a GPA of 3.86 with a major in Biomedical Sciences. The sophomore midfielder from Staten Island, N.Y. played 17 games and started 10. The midfielder was able to score a goal against UNCW and connect two assists against LSU and Texas State. 

Sydney Somers achieved a 3.52 GPA with a major in Exercise Science. The sophomore defender from Littleton, CO played 19 games and started 17 games. The midfielder was able to score three season highs against Georgia State with three shots, and one shot on goal, with a total of 110 minutes for the game.

Gry Boe Thrysoe achieved a 3.98 GPA with a double major in Applied Math and Biostatistics. The senior midfielder from Klarup, Denmark played 20 games and started 20. The midfielder was able to score the game-winning goal against UNCW and contributed a goal in the 3-1 win in the regular season finale against App State. Thrysoe totaled 1,549 minutes for the 2024 season.
