NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion baseball and head coach Chris Finwood announced the team's opponents and dates for the upcoming 2025 season on Wednesday.
The Monarchs will look to be road warriors during their 2025 campaign due to the planned upgrades to Bud Metheny Ballpark. Of the team’s 51 scheduled games, 35 will be on the road. Locations for ODU’s home games are still to be determined.
“We are excited to release our 2025 schedule,” said ODU Head Coach Chris Finwood. “It’s easily the most challenging schedule we have put together here at ODU with 20 games versus teams that were in the NCAA tournament last year. To couple that with no true home games and we will certainly be challenged in every way.”
In non-conference action, the Monarchs will open their season with three games at Georgia Tech on Feb. 14-16 and will also play series at Charlotte (Feb. 21-23), at MTSU (Feb. 28-March 2) and at Auburn (March 7-9). ODU’s schedule also features single games at East Carolina (Feb. 25), a neutral game in Biloxi, Mississippi versus Mississippi State (March 11), at William & Mary (March 18), at ETSU (March 26), at Virginia (April 1), at Norfolk State (April 8), at VCU (May 7) and at Richmond (May 13). The Monarchs will also host a midweek game against the Rams on April 15.
In conference play, ODU will travel to Southern Miss (March 14-16), App State (March 28-30), Georgia Southern (April 11-13), ULM (April 25-27) and JMU (May 9-11). The Monarchs will host Georgia State (March 21-23), Troy (April 4-6), Louisiana (April 17-19), Marshall (May 2-4) and Coastal Carolina (May 15-17).
“Our team is well aware of this challenge created by our new stadium construction schedule and have welcomed it and will be ready to face it,” added Finwood. “This will be a unique experience for all of us. We are playing in some fantastic ballparks such as Georgia Tech, Auburn, and Mississippi State, and East Carolina; as well as the always difficult Sun Belt conference schedule."
