NEW ORLEANS – For the second week in a row, Old Dominion women’s soccer sophomore Ashlynn Kulha was named by the Sun Belt Conference as Defensive Player of the Week in their weekly awards announced on Tuesday.
Kulha played a massive role in ODU’s 1-0 win at South Alabama on Friday night marshaling a backline that allowed only one shot on goal to the Jaguars as the Monarchs snapped a six-game unbeaten streak by South Alabama. The ODU win was the sixth clean sheet for the Monarchs this season and they now share the league lead in that category.
The Holly Springs, North Carolina native has played all 90 minutes in every match this season and dating back to last year has played in 1,300 straight minutes of action.
Old Dominion (7-4-1, 2-1-1) hosts Georgia Southern in a 2 p.m. Thursday matinee at the ODU Soccer Stadium.
